Taylor Made Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider Putter Review

A lot of times, bigger is better. But as the Taylor Made Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider putter proves, sometimes it’s better to go small.

Taking advantage of feedback from PGA Tour pros, the whimsical name of the Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider refers to the clubhead that’s 20% smaller than the original version of the club. It’s still not as tiny as the name indicates, as the clubhead is still midsize, but it’s a balanced putter that is designed to be forgiving and stable to keep the ball on target.

Like the original, the putter has a high MOI, thanks to the stainless steel, wire-frame construction that moves weight to the perimeter of the clubhead and helps turn mis-hits closer to the hole. That MOI can also be increased, as the Taylor Made Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider offers movable weight technology, allowing golfers to use the optional weight kit to alter the heft of the putter by changing the weights in the outer rear ports and moving more or less weight to the edges of the putter.

Another new wrinkle is that it comes with a plumber’s neck hosel and a full offset, very much in the Anser style made famous by Ping decades ago.

In making the Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider, Taylor Made took a successful model and made it better. At $199, many golfers struggling with their short game will find it worth the effort.
