Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback #1 Review

The Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback #1 went from a PGA Tour prototype to a popular item in pro shops in what seemed like an instant. Picking one up and trying it out makes it easy to see why.

The Fastback got its name because of the rounded flange, in contrast to the Scotty Cameron Studio Select Squareback 1 model that has a square flange instead. Its double bend shaft-over-spud setup pushes the weight balance closer to the clubface, and it has a half-shaft of offset to offer a clear look at the ball. The milled sightline helps to keep the target in alignment as well.

A key in all Scotty Cameron putters is the balance, and this is no exception. The weights can be customized as desired, but are designed to match the different shaft lengths to maintain the proper feel. There’s enough heft to the Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback 1 to feel stable and to keep the clubhead steady upon impact, but it’s not so heavy that it drags behind the ball and picks up grass on the way to making contact. The result should be a smooth and comfortable swing that gets the ball where it is supposed to go.
