Ping Karsten Craz-E Putter Review
Ping has made its living with traditional clubheads, but the Ping Karsten Craz-E putteris a nice combination of what's worked for the company in the past with some modern design wrinkles to push the envelope.
The Craz-E putter is crazy looking compared to some of the other heads, like the traditional Anser model. The chief difference is in the cavity, which features a circular design attached to the usual single line alignment aid. That is designed to make it easier to line up putts, since the frame of reference is the size and shape of a golf ball.
This is in addition to the trademark feature of the Karsten series, which is an elastomer insert in back of a steel face. That offers a nice combination, adding the performance and reliability of the steel with some greater feel and responsiveness. It's also designed with a greater MOI than other models, with weight redistributed to the club perimeter to increase forgiveness.
The Ping Karsten Craz-E putter has a particularly heavy clubhead, at 370 grams. That leads to a nice and stable performance through the ball, leading to fewer putts per round and lower handicaps at the end of the day.
