Ping Karsten Anser Putter Review
It’s one thing to re-issue a classic golf club. It’s another to offer that club at a classic price. That’s what Ping has done in releasing the Ping Karsten Anser putter.
The Karsten Anser is one of Ping’s signature designs, and plenty of golfers learned the game using older versions of the Anser on the green decades ago.
This version is a little more tricked-up than the original, as it offers an elastomer insert in the cavity that gives the performance of a steel-faced putter with a softer feel. The cavity shape also redistributed discretionary weight to the perimeter to increase the MOI, and it’s a little heavier than the original models as well. A trio of sightlines helps make lining up putts a breeze.
The overall effect is to make this one a club even better than the ones golfers so fondly remember, a classic design with a modern feel. As golfers wax nostalgically about the great putts they made in past rounds, they’ll be doing so with a club engineered to make knocking down those putts even easier at present.
The Ping Karsten Anser also comes at a nice price, with a suggested cost of $89 at retail. With so many manufacturers emphasizing their high-end offerings, Ping’s history and design expertise has allowed to it move in the other direction as well.
