Odyssey Black Series #1 Putter Review
The Odyssey Black Series #1 putter is a meticulously-crafted club that offers both looks and performance from perhaps the best brand name on the putter market.
Weight distribution is a key to the putter’s effectiveness. The Odyssey Black Series #1 has discretionary weight taken from the hollowed-out hosel and upper regions of the putter head, and relocated to the high-density tungsten flange. Because the tungsten is denser than steel, and because there is extra weight added to the clubhead, it has a low and deep center of gravity that helps keep the club stable and the ball going straight. The precision-milled head helps keep all that weight balanced, helping for a smooth and steady stroke.
The Odyssey Black Series #1 also pays attention to loft, which isn’t something most golfers consider but which is just as important a variable as it is for other clubs. The low center of gravity produces a higher launch angle, which helps get the ball out of its depression at the exact right angle to get the ball rolling instead of bumping or skidding to the hole.
This is a heel-toe weighted club that is available in 33, 34 and 35-inch lengths with a full-shaft offset, and is easy to fall in love with after a few practice strokes. It’s hard to go too far wrong with the Odyssey Black Series #1.
