Odyssey White Hot XG #9 Putter Review
Odyssey makes a lot of putters, but only one is used by Phil Mickelson. That’s the Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter, and it doesn’t take a Masters champion standout to see why.
One key asset of the Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter is the White Hot XG insert. It’s an elastomer core that has adds both feel and resiliency, meaning that when the ball strikes the attached hitting surface it springs quickly towards the hole. That makes for a soft and responsive stroke that inspires confidence.
Once hit, the ball should roll smoothly thanks to the high MOI that the elastomer insert helps make possible. With the saved weight placed on the perimeter of the club, the forgiveness on this putter is huge. A single alignment aid points to the visible textured sweet spot, a blueprint on where to hit the ball.
The Odyssey White Hot XG #9 is a heel-shafted blade putter with a flanged blade, a half-shaft offset and a longer hosel. It comes in 33, 34 and 35-inch shafts. And as one might expect from a putter used by a man nickmaned “Lefty,” the Odyssey White Hot XG #9 putter comes in a left-handed model as well as a right-handed one.
